Alternative Provision: What we offer

East Clayton Farm has over a decade of experience delivering high-quality alternative provision, supporting young people who face a wide range of barriers to education. We work with students presenting with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), anxiety, behavioural challenges, learning differences, and those who may struggle to access or remain engaged in mainstream settings.

Our approach is highly individualised. Each referral is carefully considered, and we work closely with schools, local authorities, families and wider support networks to ensure a joined-up, consistent plan for each young person. Through structured 1:1 and small group support, we create a safe, nurturing environment where students feel understood, valued and able to re-engage with learning.

We focus on supporting young people to achieve their identified outcomes—whether that’s improving emotional regulation, building confidence and self-esteem, developing positive relationships, increasing engagement in education, or preparing for reintegration into school or transition into further pathways. Our provision emphasises practical, hands-on learning, responsibility, and teamwork, helping students to develop independence, resilience and a sense of purpose.

We aim not only to support immediate engagement but to create meaningful, lasting change—equipping young people with the skills, confidence and support needed to move forward successfully within education and beyond.

Who We Work With

Student Vocational Qualifications

East Clayton Farm works in partnership with West Sussex County Council, Portsmouth City Council, and surrounding local authorities, alongside a range of local schools and colleges.

We support young people through both commissioned placements and direct school referrals, ensuring each student receives a personalised programme tailored to their needs. All students are supported on a 1:1 basis by a dedicated member of the East Clayton Farm team, enabling us to build strong, trusting relationships and provide consistent, individualised support.

We work collaboratively with each young person’s wider support network—including education providers, families, and external professionals—to ensure a joined-up approach that supports progress towards their identified outcomes

East Clayton Farm is an approved centre for delivering nationally recognised land-based qualifications through Skills and Education Group (SEG).

Our qualifications are delivered through practical, hands-on learning, allowing students to engage in meaningful activities while developing real-world skills.

Each young person is supported on a 1:1 basis by a dedicated member of staff along with our Qualification Manager, ensuring their learning is personalised and accessible.

Students have the opportunity to work towards accredited awards as part of their time on site, supporting their confidence, progression, and future pathways in education, training, or employment.

"A big thank you to all that spent time with and guided our son through his course at East Clayton Farm. He loved his time there and we are very grateful for the opportunity he was given and the path it has set him on"
